“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” —Psalm 119:11

Scripture memorization is one of the most beneficial spiritual disciplines our students can develop. Deuteronomy 6 gives us clear instruction that the Word of God should be in our hearts, and to “repeat them again and again…talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.” (Deut 6:7 NLT)

Bible Quizzing gives students a structured curriculum for memorizing scripture, and a fun, competitive environment to test their knowledge and improve their memorization skills. Quizzing also keeps students engaged on the local church level, in Christian Education and school competition, and culminates each year in a National Bible Quizzing tournament held at National Youth Convention.

Below you’ll find the information you need to start a Bible Quizzing team in your church, and get equip your children with the enormous benefits—comfort, guidance, instruction, prosperity, health, wealth, and wisdom—that are inextricably linked with knowledge of God’s Word.

First and foremost – PRAY! If you are a young person with a desire to quiz, you need an adult to help your team—PRAY. God will give you someone. If you are an adult who would like to start a quiz team within your church—PRAY. Without the direction of the Lord, our steps are sure to slide. If you feel you have the burden to quiz or lead a group of young people through the journey of Bible quizzing and you have prayed, now is the time to speak to your pastor. It is very important to have the support of your man of God.

Once you have the support of your pastor, it is time to reach out to the young people of your church. Please do not think only “smart” kids can do this. That is not the purpose of Bible quizzing.  The main goal of Bible quizzing is to get the most kids to learn the most verses. God honors the time put forth to learning His Word and He will bless every effort. Be very careful not to give too much material to a student too soon. Breaking the material down into monthly segments is highly suggested. You do not want to overwhelm the student with too much information too soon.

There is an age limit for senior quizzing. A quizzer must be at least 12 years old but not yet 26 years old on January 1st of the year he or she is going to quiz. Marital status DOES NOT affect a quizzers eligibility to quiz in the ALJC.

Please contact our Bible Quizzing Director, Sis. Ronda Lloyd, to officially register your team.

Once you have began a quiz ministry within your church, it is important to contact your state youth president to determine if there are any other churches within your state who are quizzing or are interested in quizzing. Setting up monthly tournaments to practice will be up to you. There are often churches in other Oneness organizations that are involved in quizzing and sometimes they will be glad to do a “practice” quiz with your team. If you are hesitant on practicing with them, simply watch one of their tournaments.

At this time, the only tournament that is organized by the national director is the National Bible Quiz Tournament held each year at National Youth Conference. State tournaments and monthly quizzes are up to each state. However, the national director is willing to travel to different districts to help direct a tournament and give any instruction needed to ensure a successful Bible quiz ministry within the state.

The best place to order Bible quiz material from is www.bqpowers.com.  Gary and Jo Ann Powers have been involved in the quiz ministry for many years. Their material is absolutely wonderful! Gary Powers has always been extremely helpful when ordering material. Apostolic Crusaders has only one division of Bible quizzing at the national level at this time, so please be certain to order senior intermediate material. The color coded verse cards and a rules manual are a must for every team!
